The site comprises several buildings at the eastern end of Goldsworth Road, close to the junction with the High Street and Victoria Way. Part of the site (south of Goldsworth Road) received a "minded to grant" planning consent for buildings. By bringing forward a comprehensive redevelopment across a larger site, we will be able to deliver more homes and many more benefits for Woking.
The tenants of the office buildings have relocated, leaving the existing buildings redundant. With the regeneration of the town centre with several large schemes, including the Victoria Square scheme, there is a huge opportunity to regenerate the land either side of Goldsworth Road for the benefit of the local community in Woking.
The 6 shops on the northern side of Goldsworth Road are not included in our site. We will work with these businesses to ensure they benefit as much as possible from our proposals.
The York Road Project will be provided with a brand new space in which to operate, in Church Street West next to the Premier Inn. The new space for the YRP will be provided in Phase 1 of the scheme’s delivery so that the YRP are not without a space for any length of time.
The Woking Railway Athletic Club (WRAC) will be provided with a brand-new space in which to operate within the heart of the scheme to ensure it continues to be a meeting place/hub for the community for years to come. We have worked with both the YRP and WRAC to design facilities that meet their specific requirements.
